Welcome to BALANCE for Blind Adults

We are a lively non-profit agency with strong roots in the community and more than 30 years experience working with blind and vision-impaired adults. Our programs enable people with vision loss to live with dignity and inclusion, and to lead independent, active lifestyles.

At BALANCE, we partner with the best in government and community services. We help you access the right programs to meet your needs—income support, language programs, adaptive technology support, and recreation and health facilities. Our experienced staff are here to assist.

A fresh approach

People experience vision loss and rehabilitation differently. That’s why, at BALANCE for Blind Adults, we help you create the program that works best for you. Our expert instructors, both vision impaired and sighted, listen with care. They design professional one-on-one training and group classes to help you reach your goals.

If you’re finishing school and ready to start life on your own, we can help you move forward with daily living and mobility skills. If you've recently experienced vision loss, we can help you adapt your skills to regain control in your home and community. If your goal is to return to work, we offer adaptive technology instruction . And if you’re new to Toronto or to Canada, we get you connected with people, services and the community.

Short-term or long-term, at your own pace and time, we’re ready to help.

Forward thinking

At BALANCE, we offer computer and assistive technology instruction to get you on course at home and at work. Visit our new training centre at Dundas West and Bloor in Toronto.

Balanced living

Companionship, social activities, and an active lifestyle are the best ways to balance the many emotions that come with living with vision loss. At BALANCE, we can help you expand your network of support, travel to places to share experiences with others, and develop the skills to get out in the community.
